Harmony Korine’s latest film, Trash Humpers, won the top prize at CPH:DOX, a documentary film festival in Copenhagen that concluded last weekend. Trash Humpers, in which Korine, his wife Rachel and assorted associates wear grotesquely detailed old person masks and tape each other staging pranks and murders and hooker parties and generally causing havoc in the streets of Nashville, is not by any traditional standards a documentary. It was shot on consumer-grade VHS, in an attempt to replicate a found object, but it doesn’t quite pull that off — it can never quite overcome its inherent Harmony Korine-ness. Still, I think it is a minor masterpiece, so I support it winning a prize of any kind. Above: Korine accepts the honor via video feed. Via /Hammer to Nail.
